Sample Questions for an Interview: Elementary School Experience

  1. What was the name of your school?  How big was it? Was it public or private?  Where was it located?

  1. What did the school building look like?

  1.  How did you get to school? Did you ride a bus to school?  Do you remember anything that happened on the bus? Did you walk to school?  Do you remember anything interesting about your walk to school?

  1. Do you remember sitting at tables or desks? Do you remember sitting next to anyone particular?

  1. What was the playground like at your school?  Were there swings?  Tetherball?  What games did you play on the playground?  Did you play with older kids or did you stick with your own age group?

  1. What did you usually wear to school?  Did you ever go to school where you had to wear a uniform?

  1. Was there a bully at your school?  Did he/she ever pick on you?

  1. Did you eat lunch at school? Did you bring it or was there a cafeteria?  What did your lunchbox look like?

  1. Do you remember any field trips your class took?

  1. What did you do in the summertime when there wasn’t any school?

  1. How did you start the day in school? With the Pledge of Allegiance? With a prayer?

  1. Did you ever win any awards at school? Tell me about them.

  1. Who was your best friend? Was it someone from your neighborhood?

  1. Do you remember the names of any of your teachers? Does anyone stand out? Why?

  1. Were you ever called to the principal’s office? Why?
